2.1 Product Features and Performance Limitations
The autonomous driving system's high-speed navigation driving can automatically control the vehicle to the destination based on navigation, and can intelligently adjust the vehicle's cruising speed on the current road to help the vehicle travel safely and comfortably to the set destination. Within the design operating conditions (ODD) required by the autonomous driving system, the autonomous driving system can independently complete all driving tasks, and drivers will be allowed to take their hands off the steering wheel, feet off the brake pedal, and eyes off the current driving task.
Attention
The high-speed navigation driving of the autonomous driving system can only be executed normally under scenarios that meet the design operating conditions (ODD). Please do not forcibly activate the autonomous driving system in scenarios that do not meet the design operating conditions. For detailed design operating conditions, see 【Instructions for Activation and Use -> Design Operating Conditions】.
Attention
The autonomous driving system is an L3 level autonomous driving system, which can replace the driver in completing vehicle driving operations after confirmation and activation. You do not need to maintain constant attention to the current road conditions and vehicle status, and your attention can be shifted to non-driving related tasks. It is worth noting that the system will not remind you of situations such as hands off the steering wheel and attention diversion, but you must maintain the ability to take over the vehicle for manual driving at any time, and promptly regain control of the vehicle when the system prompts to take over, to avoid safety risks.
2.2 System Operation Instructions
1. Autonomous Driving System Operation Instructions
(1) Vehicle Startup: Before starting the vehicle, it is recommended that you check the vehicle's tires, whether there are obstacles around the vehicle, whether there are liquids around the vehicle, etc. Ensure safety before starting the vehicle.
(2) Enter Destination: Please make sure the vehicle is IG-ON and has passed the self-test, at this time the central control screen will automatically turn on and light up. You can enter the destination information on the central map navigation page, and the system will feedback the recommended driving route. At the same time, the route information will also display sections that support autonomous driving and sections that require you to drive manually.
(3) Select Route: Based on the system's feedback on route duration, mileage, and other information, choose a suitable driving route for you.
(4) Manual Driving Navigation: After selecting the driving route, you need to drive according to the navigation to the starting point of the autonomous driving section.
(5) Enter Autonomous Driving System High-Speed Navigation: After driving to the starting point of the autonomous driving section, you can press the autonomous driving system shortcut button to quickly enter the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation system. For detailed methods of entering and activating the autonomous driving system, see 【Instructions for Activation and Use -> Activation and Activation Method】.
(6) Autonomous Driving System High-Speed Navigation Driving: After entering the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation on the autonomous driving section, the autonomous driving system will take over and control the vehicle for safe and stable driving. For specific performance and behavior of the autonomous driving system when controlling the vehicle, see 【Instructions for Activation and Use -> Driving Performance】.
(7) Exit Autonomous Driving System High-Speed Navigation Driving: During the autonomous driving, you can exit the autonomous driving system at any time to take over the vehicle. For exit methods, see 【Instructions for Activation and Use -> Shutdown Method】
(8) Arrive at Destination: When the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation controls the vehicle to arrive at the destination and park, it will prompt you. After that, you can choose to drive manually or continue to enter the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving according to the above process.
2. Design Operating Conditions
The autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving needs to be activated and operated normally only when the normal working and restriction conditions are met. The following design operating conditions must be met:
● Daytime or night
● Sunny or cloudy weather
● Light wind: maximum wind force ≤ level 6
● Highways or urban expressways
● Clear visible lane markings on the road
● Dry road surface
● No extra-long tunnels: tunnel length ≤ 100m
● Good GPS signal
● Navigation map coverage area
● Sensor working status is normal, clear vision
● Sensors are not significantly dirty
● No fault prompts for the vehicle and system
Warning
The system can know in advance through the map that the vehicle is about to drive out of the autonomous driving system coverage section. At this time, the system will give a pre-warning prompt to the driver 5 seconds before exceeding the autonomous driving system section. It is recommended that the driver take over immediately upon system prompting to ensure safety. If the driver does not take over during the system's pre-warning period, the system will execute a minimum risk strategy, control the vehicle to brake, and finally brake within the lane to try to reduce risks.
Warning
When the system can detect that the current environmental conditions do not meet the design operating conditions, the system will enter a minimum risk strategy state: continue to pre-warn the driver for 10 seconds. It is recommended that the driver take over immediately upon system prompting to ensure safety. If the driver does not take over during the system's pre-warning period, the system will control the vehicle to brake, and finally stop within the lane to try to reduce risks.
2.3 Responsibilities of the Safety Officer in the Vehicle
Although the autonomous driving system can complete all driving tasks within the limited conditions, the safety officer (driver) in the vehicle still plays roles such as the vehicle controller before the system is activated and the backup take-over person after the system is activated. The safe driving of the vehicle is based on the driver's ability to take over. The responsibilities that the driver needs to undertake are as follows:
Before the system is activated:
● Responsible for all driving tasks and safety situations of the vehicle.
● Check and confirm environmental conditions and vehicle conditions.
● Correctly activate the autonomous driving system when conditions are met.
After the system is activated:
● Maintain the ability to take over (regain control of the vehicle in time when the system prompts to take over).
After taking over the vehicle:
● Responsible for all driving tasks and safety situations of the vehicle.
2.4 Function Activation and Exit Methods
1. Activation Method
When the autonomous driving system is not activated, the dashboard will not display the autonomous driving status icon. After the driver enters the destination information in the navigation map, you will see whether different paths support "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" when planning the route. When the car enters the section that supports "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving", if you press the autonomous driving system button, under the condition of meeting the requirements, "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" will be automatically activated, and the system will voice prompt the driver 【Autonomous driving mode has been activated】, and the dashboard will continue to display the following blue icon. After that, "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" will perform its dynamic driving tasks, including: "emergency safety braking", "intelligent cruise", "vehicle avoidance", "construction area early warning avoidance", etc.

2. Exit Method
During the operation of the autonomous driving system, the driver can exit the "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" function by closing the quick switch, and the autonomous driving system will prompt the driver after taking over.
(1) Press the brake pedal: The driver can intervene by lightly pressing the brake, and the system's braking will immediately release to the driver and exit all autonomous driving system high-speed navigation functions.
(2) Press the accelerator pedal: The driver can intervene by pressing the accelerator pedal, and the system will immediately release the vehicle control to the driver and exit the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation.
(3) Turn the steering wheel: The driver can intervene by turning the steering wheel, and the system will immediately release the vehicle control to the driver and exit the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation.
(4) Press the autonomous driving system switch button: The driver can exit the "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" function by closing the quick switch, and the system will immediately release the vehicle control to the driver and exit the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation.
(5) Flick the turn signal lever: The driver can exit the "autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving" function by flicking the turn signal lever, and the system will immediately release the vehicle control to the driver and exit the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation.
Attention
During the high-speed navigation driving of the autonomous driving system, the system will immediately release the vehicle control, including acceleration and braking, after the driver performs the above exit operations, and the autonomous driving status icon will go out (i.e., the autonomous driving status icon on the dashboard disappears). The driver should be prepared to take over the vehicle before intending to exit the navigation function.
2.5 Function and Human-Machine Interaction Instructions
Activating the autonomous driving system high-speed navigation driving will also activate other necessary sub-functions: "emergency safety braking", "intelligent cruise", "vehicle avoidance", "construction area early warning avoidance". The elements of the sub-functions are described as follows:
1. Emergency Safety Braking
Emergency Safety Braking: If the system detects a collision risk, it will take corresponding early warning and braking measures to avoid collisions or reduce the degree of collision damage.
Emergency safety braking is mainly applicable to help drivers reduce safety risks on dry standard highways. Drivers should take over the vehicle in time when the vehicle issues a collision warning.
Attention
Emergency safety braking can only reduce collision risks and the degree of harm within a certain range and cannot guarantee the absolute safety of the vehicle and the driver. Drivers should not fully rely on this function to ensure ultimate safety.

2. Intelligent Cruise
Intelligent Cruise: Real-time monitoring of the vehicle's front driving environment, automatically adjusting the driving speed within the range of 0-89km/h to adapt to changes in the driving environment caused by the speed of the vehicle in front and/or road conditions, while controlling the vehicle to try to drive in the center of the lane. At low speeds and congestion, the autonomous driving system will also control the vehicle to achieve low-speed cruising, stop and start from a standstill.
Intelligent cruise is mainly applicable to driving on highways or urban expressways. When the autonomous driving system is activated, drivers can release the accelerator pedal and let go of the gas, and intelligent cruise will maintain the set cruising speed.
● When there is a car in front, intelligent cruise will adjust the vehicle speed according to the speed and distance of the car in front, up to the set cruising speed (or current road speed limit).
● When there is no car in front, intelligent cruise will quickly control the vehicle's speed to the set cruising speed.
When the autonomous driving system controls the vehicle to cruise, the dashboard will display the current cruising speed, time distance, and other information.
Intelligent cruise function operation, dashboard interface
Intelligent cruise control parameters: The system will automatically control the vehicle to complete intelligent cruise with default parameters.
● Following distance when driving at high speed (i.e., vehicle speed ≥ 15km/h): Default is 4 seconds. Since the vehicle speed is relatively fast at this time, the system will maintain a relatively gentle and longer following distance.
● Cruise speed: Current road speed limit.
● Following distance when driving at low speed in congestion (i.e., vehicle speed < 15km/h): Default is 2 seconds. Since the vehicle speed is slow at this time, the system will maintain a relatively aggressive and closer following distance.
● Stop and park distance: Default is 5 meters.
3. Vehicle Avoidance
Vehicle Avoidance: When a side vehicle is too close to the vehicle's lane or occupies part of the lane, the system will control the vehicle to avoid to the safe side. The avoidance range will be limited within the current lane.

4. Construction Area Early Warning Avoidance
Construction Area Early Warning Avoidance: When construction facilities appear in front, the system will issue an early warning or take braking actions based on the specific location of the construction area.
● When the construction area is not in the lane, the system will issue an early warning to the driver.
● When the construction area is in the lane, the system will issue an early warning and brake at the same time.

2.6 System Potential Risk Description
During the operation of the autonomous driving system, there may be potential safety risks such as vehicle and system failures and environmental factors. The system will detect potential risks in real-time and timely warn the driver and take safety de-escalation measures (see the following section 【Minimum Risk Strategy】).
The potential risks that the system will detect and respond to include:
● Autonomous driving system (including related sensors) failures: such as lidar failures, control module failures, etc.
● Vehicle-related failures: such as steering abnormalities, chassis communication abnormalities, etc.
● External environmental risks (i.e., environmental factors that do not meet the design operating conditions): such as about to drive out of the high-speed section, about to drive into a tunnel, heavy rain and other adverse weather, etc.
● Driver abnormal state detected by the system (the system determines that the driver does not have the ability to take over): such as the driver is in a sleep state, the driver leaves the driver's seat, the seat belt is not fastened, etc.
2.7 Minimum Risk Strategy
During driving, the system will detect vehicle internal and external environments, software and hardware status, and other information in real-time. When the system controls the vehicle to be about to exceed the design driving area or encounter failures and other risks, the system will take corresponding response strategies (early warning prompts to the driver and exits the system, early warning and braking) to reduce vehicle safety risks. For detailed conditions for entering the minimum risk strategy, see the previous section 【System Potential Risk Description】.
The minimum risk strategy includes an early warning phase and a braking phase. During the early warning phase, the system will continuously warn the driver and also brake slightly. During the braking phase, the system will control the vehicle to brake to a stop in the current lane with a larger deceleration. Throughout the entire process of executing the minimum risk strategy, the system will always keep the hazard lights on to alert other road users until the driver takes over the vehicle. The detailed process of the minimum risk de-escalation strategy is as follows:
● Minimum Risk Strategy: The system reserves 10 seconds for manual takeover. During this reserved period, the system will control the vehicle to brake slightly and prompt you through voice and red visual icon flashing 【The autonomous driving mode is about to exit, please the driver take over the vehicle】. It is recommended that you take over the vehicle immediately. If you take over during this period, the voice reminder will stop, and the red visual icon will go out (i.e., no red de-escalation icon is displayed on the dashboard); if you have not taken over, the vehicle will start to decelerate and finally stop in the current lane.
Safety de-escalation, dashboard icon prompt
● Especially, when the system determines that the driver does not have the ability to take over, it will prompt you through voice and visual means within a period of 5 seconds 【The driver's state is abnormal, the autonomous driving mode is about to exit】. If you take over the vehicle or the system determines that you have regained the ability to take over, it will not enter the safety de-escalation process. If you have not taken over and the system still believes you do not have the ability to take over, it will enter safety de-escalation.
When the driver does not have the ability to take over, the dashboard icon prompt
● Similarly, when the system detects that it will drive out of the autonomous driving system coverage section in the future, it will prompt you through voice and visual means within a period of 5 seconds 【The autonomous driving mode is about to exit, please the driver take over the vehicle】. If you take over the vehicle, it will not enter the safety de-escalation process. If you have not taken over and the vehicle finally drives out of the autonomous driving system coverage section, the system will enter safety de-escalation.
When it is detected that the vehicle will drive out of the autonomous driving system coverage section in the future, the dashboard icon prompt completes the safety de-escalation treatment, and the system will exit the autonomous driving system.
Attention
Safety de-escalation treatment can only reduce risks and the degree of harm within a certain range and cannot guarantee the absolute safety of the vehicle and the driver. Drivers should not fully rely on this feature to ensure ultimate safety.
Warning
Drivers need to be prepared to take over the vehicle at all times during the execution of safety de-escalation treatment tasks. When the system prompts that the driver needs to take over, resume control of the vehicle's driving.
Warning
Safety de-escalation treatment cannot guarantee absolute safety. Due to system limitations, environmental factors, human factors, etc., there is still an inevitable risk of collision. We suggest that you always be highly vigilant in the following scenarios and take over the vehicle when necessary:
● Rear vehicles following too closely.
● Other vehicles cutting in maliciously.
● Pedestrians, vehicles, etc., not obeying traffic rules.
● The design operating system is still running beyond the design (some design operating conditions cannot be detected and confirmed by the system itself).
● The system identifies serious risks, warns the driver, and exits the system, but the driver does not control the vehicle.
● Sensors are blocked or dirty.
● Animals running around at will on the road.
● Extremely potholed road surfaces that may cause the vehicle to bounce, roll over, and other accidents.
2.8 Inevitable Collision Response Strategy
The autonomous driving system and its safety de-escalation mode cannot guarantee safety in response to all risks. If an unfortunate safety accident occurs, please take immediate safety measures to avoid further accidents and losses.
Warning
If an unfortunate collision or other accidents occur, please take the following measures at the first time to try to reduce losses as much as possible:
● Ensure the autonomous driving system is turned off.
● Turn off the vehicle.
● Pull the handbrake tight to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
● Turn on the hazard lights to alert other vehicles.
● Immediately place triangular warning signs around the vehicle.
● After completing the above operations, the driver and passengers should immediately evacuate to a safe area.
● If there are no injuries, call the police in a timely manner.
● If there are injuries, call the emergency number immediately.
